Foreign reporters visit Shanghai memorial site
A group of foreign reporters visited the newly opened Memorial for the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai's Huangpu district on June 17.
They familiarized themselves with the history of the founding of the Party through more than 1,000 historical relics, photos and charts.
The visit was part of a group tour in Jiaxing and Shanghai organized by the Information Office of the State Council.
More than 40 reporters from overseas media, including ORF, O Globo, Kyodo News and the New York Times, visited historical sites, rural areas and businesses in Jiaxing and Shanghai to better understand the 100-year history of the CPC.
Since the memorial's reopening on June 3 after expansion, bookings have been approaching its daily cap of 10,000 tourists, said Ruan Jun, vice-curator of the memorial.
The authority is considering raising the cap. Tourists can book their trip seven days ahead.
In addition to the memorial, reporters went to the Yangshan Phase IV Automated Terminal and the Exhibition Center of the Lingang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone to know more about development of Shanghai.
