Turkish banker gives China's development the thumbs-up
"Foreigners will have a hard time imagining what China has achieved today and how fast China is developing," said Noyan Rona, the chief representative of Garanti Bank's Shanghai Office, who came to China from Turkey in 1999 when China's financial industry was starting to open up.
Rona made the remarks in a video which is part of the "Shanghai Through Our Eyes" series produced by Xinmin Evening News to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China this year.
In the video, he listed words like "scientific", "planning", "perseverance", "hard work" and "foresight" to describe China's achievements in reform and opening-up.
"Throughout the past 40 years of human history since China's reform and opening-up, no other country has achieved the same level of progress and the same success as China has," he said, noting that much of this success is due to the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
