Exhibition in Shenzhen hails openness, diversity
The Prosperous Times, an exhibition now running in Shenzhen, Guangdong province through July 27, shows how modern painters preserve the spirituality of classical Chinese ink art while also reflecting the cultural tastes of contemporary society.
The show, held at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum, teams up seven artists: Feng Yuan, who is noted for figure paintings which are grounded in the country's long and rich history; Qin Zhigang, whose landscapes hail the breathtaking scenery of the Wushan Mountain and Three Gorges areas; Xu Li, whose works focus on the magnificence of mountain ranges; Nima Zeren, who examines the harmonious co-existence between humankind and its surroundings; Xu Qinsong, whose paintings present a contrast between light and shadow; and Wang Shuping and Zhai Meiqing, who deliver a scholarly touch with their flower-and-bird paintings.
