A spotlight was shone on a cutting-edge lighting and laser display technology that can protect young people's eyesight at a sci-tech innovative competition recently held in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

Jiangsu Lohua New Material Co Ltd stole the limelight by showcasing the technology.  The company was founded in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in 2013 and provides solutions for luminescent materials and light sources.

One of its achievements is creating the world's first laser phosphor ceramic converter, developed after five years of research. By using exclusive phosphors, it helped Japanese liquid crystal display (LCD) panel maker Sharp Corporation successfully launch the world's first 8K LCD TV.

Lohua's research team has a strong focus on lighting that is safe for people's eyes. They succeeded in realizing a spectrum with a high color rendering index that is similar to comfortable sunlight. The chip scale package (CSP) lamp beads they developed are flicker-less and emit very little ultraviolet, blue, and red radiation, effectively reducing damage to people's eyesight.

Luo Xuefang, chairwoman of the company, said Lohua has so far improved classroom lighting for nearly 1,000 schools across the country. Each light was perfectly placed to achieve the best effect.

Lohua currently owns more than 300 patents and six high-tech products, and has formulated two enterprise standards.
