New energy forum kicks off in Taiyuan
The 2021 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum kicked off Friday in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi province, with meetings and exhibitions featuring the renewable energy revolution, climate change and environmental protection.
The two-day forum will be held both online and offline. It consists of an opening ceremony, a summit meeting, an information release and roundtable conference, a batch of signing events, an online exhibition, a group of subforums, and a meeting for the global top 500 companies in the new energy sector.
This year marks the first time for the forum to set up two subforums themed on climate change and environmental protection, respectively, under China's strong green commitment to achieve peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
The purpose of holding the two subforums is to conduct dialogues on how to achieve China's green goals, convey the country's firm confidence in low-carbon development, and show its willingness to enhance global cooperation on that matter, according to the provincial government, which is also one of the event's organizers.
The forum has attracted about 300 representatives from home and abroad, including government officials and business leaders, to participate.
Initiated in 2016, the forum aims to become a platform that showcases cutting-edge technologies and products as well as promotes global communication and cooperation in the energy sector.
