Since 2004, Koo has photographed traditional Korean white porcelain ceramics. For him, these wares echo the essence of the Joseon aesthetic, and because they are often stained, cracked, and worn by everyday use they are a perfect subject through which to convey warm traces of human life.
Koo is a dedicated collector of vestiges from the past. He places dissolving bars of soap, ancient porcelain, and dust on walls into voids with subtle color, light, or shadow; they linger in the labyrinth of the vanishing and the eternal.
