Changqing oilfield produces over 800m tons of oil, gas over 51 yrs
Changqing oilfield, China's largest oil and gas field, has produced more than 800 million tons of oil and gas so far since it was put into operation 51 years ago, said its operator China National Petroleum Corp.
The oilfield has produced over 60 million tons of oil equivalents of crude oil and natural gas last year, hitting a record high, as China's oil and gas giants have been stepping up domestic oil and gas exploration and production to ensure the domestic energy supply.
The oilfield has produced more than 46.84 million tons of oil equivalents of crude oil and natural gas during the first nine months this year, said CNPC.
According to the company, the accumulative proved oil and gas reserves of the oilfield account for one-third of the country's total. The annual net increase in oil and gas production equivalent also reached 3 million tons.
The cumulative natural gas production exceeded 500 billion cubic meters by the end of August, which is the equivalent of the reduction of up to 600 million tons of coal and the reduction of 720 million tons of carbon dioxide, it said.
