Beijing Contemporary Art Expo returns for fall
Opening at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center, one of the capital city's "10 great buildings" erected in the late 1950s, the Beijing Contemporary Art Expo aims to present a gala to the public and accentuate Beijing's cultural atmosphere in the golden period of autumn.
Running through Sunday, the annual fair brings together more than 90 galleries and cultural institutions to celebrate the diversity of contemporary art in China. Works on show are from both internationally renowned artists, such as Yayoi Kusama and Kiki Smith, and leading home-grown artists, including Liu Xiaodong and Liu Wei.
A special section is dedicated to the booming scene of art-inspired merchandise, showing a variety of products created by artists or inspired by artwork.
Forums will also be held to address the rise of a new generation of art collectors, the conservation of art, emerging trends of art collection and the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on art circles.
