Smart ways to help the elderly
'One-click service' telephone
Smart phones have become increasingly indispensable to our life. But for many senior residents, it is not necessarily true. The small buttons and complex functions of smart phones pose obstacles to elderly people. Therefore, many seniors still prefer old-fashioned landline phones.
In Beijing's Tongzhou district, community workers installed "once-click service" telephones for senior residents to facilitate their daily life.
With just a click of the button, elderly residents can call for assistance in the event of an emergency.
Ren Xiuzhen, an 80-year-old resident, said her husband has Parkinson's disease. With the "one-click service" telephone, she can click the big red button on the phone to call the "120" medical emergency hotline in the event of an emergency.
The "one-click service" telephone also provides healthcare, dining and housekeeping services.
