To explore new possibilities in Chinese design, fashion brand Grace Chen launched the 2022 spring collection integrating couture with Chinese calligraphy on Sunday night in Shanghai.

Highlighting artistic traits, the new designs for coats, suits and dresses draw inspiration from Chinese calligraphies of different eras, such as seal script (zhuan shu), regular script (kai shu), running script (xing shu) and cursive script (cao shu).

"Wearability has always been on my mind. I want to showcase the structure of Chinese characters in my designs, but with lots of fine-tuning," said the designer.
