China's sprinting icon Su Bingtian established a research center for short track sports on Monday at the university where he serves as associate professor.

Focusing on the skills research in sprinting, hurdling and jumping sports, the Su Bingtian Center for Speed Research and Training at Jinan University in Guangzhou provides technology services and taps the talent pool for national team training for the Olympics and Asian Games. In the fitness-for-all area, the center aims to inspire the public and sports education with the spirit of competitive sports, with the development and promotion of training, practice, testing, evaluation, injury prevention and treatment.

Su, 32, became a sports sensation in China after becoming the first Chinese sprinter to race in the Olympic 100m final in the Tokyo Olympics in August, before clocking at an astonishing Asian record of 9.83 seconds in the semifinal race. The record is ranked 12th in the world's fastest men in history.
