Nathan Chen claims men's singles title in figure skating of Beijing 2022

BEIJING - American figure skater Nathan Chen claimed the men's singles gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Winter Games on Thursday, ranking first in both the short program and free skating.

Chen, who placed fifth four years ago in PyeongChang Games, collected 218.63 points in Thursday's free skating to win the championship by 332.60 points in total.

Japan's Yuma Kagiyama, the only other athlete who scored over 200 points in free skating, took silver with a total of 310.05, while his Japanese compatriot Shoma Uno got the bronze with 293.00.

Two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu, also from Japan, came fourth on 283.21.
