Xi spares no effort to ensure Games' success
William Jones, a former White House correspondent for Executive Intelligence Review and now a nonresident fellow at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, said that as more people turn their eyes to China, they will quickly realize how false a narrative of China and its people has been foisted on them by the "lying Western media".
The "torch" of peace has been lit in Beijing in spite of the efforts by the US administration to quench it, Jones said. "In addition, the important meetings between President Xi and numerous other world leaders (who attended the opening ceremony of Beijing 2022), particularly the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, on issues of peace and development will ensure that the Olympic spirit also takes hold in the larger global political arena," he added.
In a meeting with IOC chief Bach, President Xi said the notion of "together" championed by the Olympic Movement is needed more than ever. "Instead of riding separately in some 190 small boats, countries around the world should stay together in one giant vessel and sail toward a brighter future," he said.
