Special bus stop set up for physically impaired mother
A special bus stop has been set up in Loudi, Hunan province to help a physically challenged mother and her son.
Chen Xinping, the mother, is seriously handicapped and has to use a stool to support her body while walking. Her 7-year-old son has glaucoma.
Every week, the mother takes her son to an eye hospital for treatment. The 400-meter journey from the bus stop to the hospital, which takes only a few minutes for able-bodied people to walk, is an arduous trip for them. The journey used to take them half a hour.
After learning the situation, local authorities set up a temporary bus stop near the eye hospital in January to help the mother and son.
Now, it only takes five minutes for Chen and her son to walk from the hospital to the bus stop.
"I am really happy. The stop spares me an hour during each commute. And I no longer have to fear getting hit by a car when traversing the road," Chen said.
