Wang Yi: Unfreeze Afghanistan's assets
The United States should lift various unilateral sanctions and unfreeze Afghanistan's assets in the US, so as to prevent "secondary damage" to the Afghan people, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a news conference on Monday.
Afghanistan is currently making a critical transition from chaos to order, and China believes all parties must uphold the "Afghan-led, Afghan-owned" principle and support the Afghan people in exploring their own path of development in accordance with their national circumstances.
The parties should increase humanitarian aid to the country so that it can overcome its current hardship, Wang said, adding that China was one of the first countries that came to Afghanistan's aid, and will continue to provide assistance to the Afghan people based on their needs.
At the moment, China is also preparing for a third round of talks between foreign ministers from countries in the region. "We will contribute more as a neighboring country to the long-term stability and prosperity of Afghanistan," he said.
