Curating a vibrant, complicated image of Asia through garments

Another fashion photographer, Joyce NG, hailing from China's southern coastal city Hong Kong, brings to the show a roster of posters made from her 2015 photo that features models posing by Digital Hub, an iconic monument with a little fountain in Hong Kong's Shum Shui Po. Yet, the monument was demolished in 2021 as public complaints surged over people littering in the fountain amid COVID-19. Hence, Joyce NG's work has become a pictorial souvenir of this monument.
Like those Chinese designers and artists, some fashion creatives of Southeast Asian heritage celebrate their cultural heritage in their works, too, though they may fly under the radar for most Chinese viewers because of unfamiliarity with Southeast Asian culture and society.
