A study from Sweden suggests that after a COVID-19 infection there is a 33-fold increase in the risk of pulmonary embolism, a fivefold increase in the risk of DVT, and an almost twofold increase in the risk of bleeding in the 30 days after infection.
Researchers tracked more than 1 million people who tested positive for COVID-19 between February 2020 and May 2021 in Sweden. The study highlights the importance of being vaccinated against the virus, the researchers say.
