What to expect from Hong Kong's next chief executive?
John Lee Ka-chiu scored a resounding victory in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Chief Executive Election on Sunday, becoming the SAR's sixth-term chief executive-elect.
"We expect our next Chief Executive would be, first and foremost, a genial patriot with strong commitment to lead Hong Kong into its successful integration into the future development of our country, particularly into the Greater Bay Area," said Lee Chack-fan, President of Chu Hai College of Higher Education and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong.
Lee also expects Hong Kong's new leader to have a strong commitment and ability to solve the critical problems of Hong Kong, such as the land supply, housing, the aging population, education reform, technology, innovation and so on. These are critical issues for the future well-being of Hong Kong.
"We expect Mr Lee could launch Hong Kong's health code with tracking function for resuming normal travel between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland," said Grace Ling Yu-shih, Hong Kong member to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and honorary research fellow at the Institute of China Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong.
