Ethiopian ambassador: China's transformation is a phenomenon
Teshome Toga, the Ethiopian ambassador to China, has spoken highly of China's development in the past 10 years, especially in poverty elimination and industrial transformation.
China had succeeded in eradicating absolute poverty, achieving the poverty reduction goal set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule, which is extremely important for China and the world, Toga said in a recent interview with China Daily website.
He also shared his thoughts on China's industrial transformation. "China has done very well in the past 10 years, especially moving from industry into high tech and into digital economy," he said.
"China's transformation is a phenomenon. The digital economy is growing very fast in this country," he added.
Ethiopia has brought out the digital economy as one of the pillars of the economy in the country's five-year development plan, according to Toga. Ethiopia has realized the importance of the digital economy, including e-commerce, promoted cooperation with Chinese enterprises, and expected further cooperation between China and Africa, he noted.
