Chinese embassy spokesperson's remarks on the BBC's playing up of the UK intelligence service's allegation against a lawyer of Chinese descent
Question:?A recent BBC report once again plays up "the case of Christine Lee", stating that in the absence of enough evidence, the British intelligence service still went on to allege that Lee engaged in "political interference activities"?on behalf of the Chinese government. What is your comment?
Embassy Spokesperson: I made clear our position in January of this year on this malicious manipulation by the UK side. I would like to stress again that China always adheres to the principle of non-interference in other country's internal affairs. We have no need and never seek to "buy influence"?in any foreign parliament. We firmly oppose the trick of smearing and intimidation against the Chinese community in the UK.
We urge the BBC to abide by the ethics of journalism and stop fueling and spreading rumours against China.
