Question: At the Aspen Security Forum a few days ago, officials from the US and UK spy agencies claimed that China was now the top intelligence priority, surpassing counter-terrorism. They also made irresponsible remarks on the Taiwan question. What is your comment?

Embassy Spokesperson: The US and UK Intelligence Agencies have been fabricating "China threat"?recently to sling malicious slanders at China and interfere grossly in China's internal affairs. We firmly oppose and strongly condemn this.

China is committed to peaceful development. It is always a defender of world peace, a contributor to global development and an upholder of international order. It is a staunch force for world peace and common development. By contrast, the US, the UK and a few other countries have engaged in wanton infiltration, subversion and even invasion in other countries and created confrontations and conflicts around the world, bringing chaos and disaster to many places. The world has long reached the verdict as to who is right and who is wrong.

Taiwan is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory. The reunification of the motherland is the common aspiration and strong determination of all sons and daughters of the Chinese nation. It is also an unstoppable historical trend. We will strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and efforts. That being said, we will also firmly safeguard our nation's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. We will never allow anyone to separate Taiwan from China in any way.

We urge the US and UK intelligence agencies to correct their mistakes, sincerely reflect on their own problems, and stop discrediting China or misleading the public.
