Xi busy meeting world leaders
PRESIDENT XI JINPING:
? China and Italy, as two ancient civilizations, should carry forward their traditional friendship, understand and support each other's core interests and major concerns, pursue common ground while shelving differences, expand consensus, and set an example for relations between countries with different social systems and cultural backgrounds.
? The two sides are expected to tap into the China-Italy Government Committee and dialogue mechanisms to explore the potential of cooperation in such areas as high-end manufacturing, clean energy, aviation and aerospace as well as in third-party markets.
? China remains committed to high-level opening-up, and it will import more quality products from Italy. The country welcomes Italy to be the guest of honor at the 2023 China International Consumer Products Expo.
? The two sides should use the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan as an opportunity to step up cooperation on winter sports and industries.
? China will continue to strengthen communication and coordination with Italy within multilateral platforms such as the Group of 20 and jointly respond to major challenges in areas such as the global economy.
? Under the current circumstances, it is of great importance to promote steady growth of the China-European Union relationship, and it is hoped that Italy will play an important role in the EU's commitment to an independent and positive China policy.
ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA MELONI:
? Italy does not approve of bloc confrontation, and it believes that countries should respect their differences and disagreements, strengthen solidarity, maintain dialogue and exchanges, and enhance mutual understanding.
? The country looks to closely collaborate with China within the United Nations, the G20 and other frameworks to tackle the various pressing challenges in a more effective manner.
? Italy is glad to see the events of the Year of Culture and Tourism being held, and it stands ready to continue advancing bilateral cooperation in such areas as trade and culture.
