Chile Week kicks off in Beijing

Chile Week was inaugurated in Beijing on Nov 22 under the theme "Towards a Sustainable World". First held in China in 2015, the event is now into its seventh year.

This year's focus is on sustainable development, global value chains and investment, women in business, strengthening country positioning and leveraging new business opportunities.

The event aims to promote cooperation between the two countries in fields of trade, investment, energy, mining, science and technology.

The opening ceremony was attended by authorities from both countries, including Ximena Fuentes, minister of foreign affairs of Chile. Wang Shouwen, vice-minister of commerce of China, delivered a video message.

More than 200 guests attended the conference, including Chilean companies in the Chinese market, representatives of industry associations, importers, media, and KOLs.

Among the week-long activities in Beijing, a spectacular culinary show was prepared by Michelin restaurant chef using premium Chilean ingredients, such as fresh fruits, pork, beef, mussels, frozen fruits, accompanied by fine Chilean wines.

Chile was the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with China on Dec 15, 1970. Over the past half century, the two countries have adhered to the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, openness and tolerance, and have been at the forefront of the flourishing development of relations between China and Latin America.
