Domestic travel bookings surge across China
Tourism in major cities, including Beijing and Guangzhou, has seen evident rebound since optimized COVID-19 response measures were issued earlier this month.
Ticket bookings to scenic spots in Beijing rose 177 percent from Dec 19 to 23 compared to that over the same period in the previous week, major domestic online travel agency Trip.com Group reported.
The National Museum of China, the Universal Beijing Resort and the Palace Museum are among the most popular spots. Ski resorts in the capital city have also seen bookings increase by 10 percent on average.
Half of the bookings were made by travelers are born in the '90s, the agency says.
Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, has also seen traveler visits to its major scenic spots rise by 132 percent week-on-week.
"The 'resurrection' of big cities have brought people confidence to return to a normal life," said Fang Zeqian, a tourism industry analyst.
