Discount ticket policy
Starting from Jan 1, children will get a discount on tickets based on their age instead of height. According to the new railway policy, every adult passenger can travel with one child under 6 for free. Travelers between age 6 and 14 may ride at discounted rates, and those above age 14 are required to pay full price.
For college students, the railway authorities have also lifted the restriction that the students can only get discounted tickets during winter and summer breaks. They can purchase discount tickets four times at any time during a school year.
More discounts will be given to passengers riding off-peak routes.
