"In the New Year, I hope I can continue to be a bridge between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits. I also hope that young people can have more exchanges. I hope that in 2023 I can take friends from the mainland to visit the 'Treasure Island' of Taiwan, and relatives and friends from Taiwan can visit the mainland to see the infinite scenery," said Chen Simo, a student from Shanghai International Studies University, in her Chinese New Year greetings from Taiwan.

Chen, who is from China's Taiwan, said many streets in Taiwan are named after cities in the Chinese mainland and each of those streets is like an umbilical cord attached to the motherland, with deep nostalgia and attachment to the motherland.

Chen said both sides of the Taiwan Straits use the same language, which demonstrates the deep commonalities. "The past, the present and the future have given us a common, glorious destiny, one in which we play our role in making our country a proud member in the corner of nations. We will work together and strive side by side to write an even more magnificent chapter for socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era," said Chen.
