Senior leaders join political advisers in discussions
Senior Chinese leaders on Monday joined national political advisers in different group discussions at the first session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body.
The leaders are Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi, who are all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
While participating in a meeting attended by national political advisers from the economic sector, Li Qiang called for fully implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress to strive for realizing the goals and tasks set out for this year's national development.
Li noted that since the beginning of this year, economic development has got off to a good start, but a lot of difficulties and challenges still remain on the way ahead.
He urged efforts to follow the decisions mapped out at the Central Economic Work Conference, strive for progress while maintaining stability and implement the new development philosophy fully and faithfully to advance high-quality development.
Speaking at a joint group meeting attended by national political advisers from the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League and the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Zhao Leji said that efforts should be made to leverage their strengths to firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" and promote national reunification.
In discussions with national political advisers from the CPC, Wang Huning highlighted upholding and strengthening the full leadership of the CPC over the work of the CPPCC. Political advisers should fulfill their duties with a focus on the central task of the Party on the new journey and in the new era, Wang said.
While participating in discussions with national political advisers from the science and technology sector, Cai Qi stressed deepening institutional reforms in the field and striving to make breakthroughs in basic research and cutting-edge technologies.
Speaking at a meeting attended by national political advisers from the environment and natural resources sector, Ding Xuexiang underlined the need to promote green transformation and improve the nation's capacity for ensuring resources and energy supplies.
In discussions with national political advisers from the China National Democratic Construction Association and those from the press and publications sector, Li Xi called on them to actively contribute their suggestions in implementing the new development philosophy, building the new development paradigm and promoting high-quality growth.
