2023 Giro d'Italia race to showcase Yangtze River Delta's sights, sounds, achievements
The Giro d'Italia, one of the three most prestigious road cycling races in the world, comes every May to excite cycling enthusiasts around the world. The race made its debut in 1909 and is celebrating its 106th edition. This world-renowned event will make its third appearance in the Yangtze River Delta region's ecological development demonstration zone.
The executive committee of the zone, jointly with the regions of Qingpu, Wujiang, and Jiashan, has officially announced the 2023 Giro d'Italia Ride Like a Pro Yangtze River Delta Open will return from May 20 to 21. Registration will begin at noon on April 4, and interested parties will be able to register via the "Giro Ride Like A Pro" WeChat official account, the official website at www.giroridelikeapro.cn or the "Maramara" App.
In 2019, the demonstration zone for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta was formally unveiled, and the open was first publicized. The zone has been making important achievements ever since. The 2023 open will showcase urban development at Qingpu, Wujiang, and Jiashan and engage an increasing number of cycling enthusiasts with an emphasis on ecology and national health.
What makes the 2023 open unique is it will be upgraded to an international Class-C cycling event in China. Participants will pass through three demonstration zones: starting and ending in Qingpu district of Shanghai, then Jiashan county of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province and Suzhou's Wujiang district in Jiangsu province. Participants will be able to see the Yangtze River Delta demonstration zone during its golden season.
The diverse settings make the event more appealing for participants. Multi-category circuit races, family fun rides and youth races on the first day of the competition can satisfy athletes from different age groups. The second day's race has now been categorized into Competitive, Elite and Open. The 88-kilometer ride will start from the Dianshan Lake-Yuandang ecological area, passing through Zhujiajiao and the Taipu River, and then crossing the ecological development zone of the Yangtze River Delta.
A boutique market exhibiting a variety of handcrafted accessories, foods, as well as various performances are planned. The children's balance bike will also make a comeback, allowing adults and children to experience the joy of cycling together. The festivities integrate the competition into various aspects of people's daily lives, including sports promotion, lifestyle, travel, food and parent-child activities.
This event is presented by Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank and supported by multiple partners. It has received strong support from official plant protein beverage partner Dou Ben Dou, official water and sports drink partner Electrox, official timing and watch partner Luminox, the official watch partner Luminox, official sports headphone partner Shokz, official bike partner GIANT and the official registration channel Maramara. The exclusive short video cooperation platform Douyin and the official content cooperation platform RED will also launch official topics in conjunction with the event, increasing public social media participation and interaction, presenting events from different angles and promoting online and offline participation.
The 2023 open showcase the internationalism of the Yangtze River Delta zone as well as its achievements over the past four years, and promote healthy living for residents. It will present a joint vision of people building a better and healthier life together.
