"Magnificent production. A deep, dynamically developing plot that doesn't leave your attention for a single minute. Excellent acting, at some points it even felt like watching a well edited movie. This performance makes me want to watch it again," said user Irina Ivanova on social media after the premiere.

The audience also noted the brilliant acting by the cast and admired the spectacular and detailed costumes, live instrumental accompaniment and, despite the seriousness of the theme, a dynamic, lighthearted presentation and a variety of emotional tone.

The novel Frog, published in 2009, centers on the life of a talented midwife in rural China over the span of 50 years. Mo was awarded the Mao Dun prize, one of the most prestigious prizes for Chinese literature in 2011. One year later, he received the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The Russian language rights for Frog were provided by China Written Works Copyright Society and authorized by Mo himself.

The play was performed under the authorization of China Written Works Copyright Society.
