G7 needs course correction to avoid obstructing peace
The G7 often talks about "moving towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world" and "upholding the international order based on the rule of law", but the Hiroshima summit shows its lack of real action in addressing global challenges except for increased recklessness in interfering in other countries' internal affairs and provoking international division and confrontation.
A series of topics attacking China at the summit, grossly interfering in its internal affairs, and blatantly challenging the post war international order fully demonstrate that the G7 has become a tool of the United States' hegemony.
The G7's remarks on the Taiwan question are clear evidence of its challenge to the post-war international order. The settlement of the Taiwan question is a matter for the Chinese people to decide. The one-China principle is the cornerstone for peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
The G7 talks a lot about respecting other countries' territorial integrity when it comes to Ukraine, but on the Taiwan question it only talks about maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait. This naked "double standard" shows its connivance with the forces demanding "Taiwan independence". It shows that the G7 is becoming an accomplice of the US in its attempt to use the Taiwan question to contain China.
The G7 has parroted the same old story on the East China Sea, South China Sea, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet and other issues, spreading lies that the US has deliberately fabricated and trying to insinuate China with so-called "economic coercion" to tarnish China's image and peddle the "China threat" fallacy.
The joint statement issued at the Hiroshima Summit shows how the US is garnering consensus in the G7 for its anti-China plot, which goes to show that the G7 is a politicized faction manipulated by the US and does not represent the whole world.
Gone are the days when a handful of Western countries wantonly interfered in other countries' internal affairs and manipulated global affairs. Against the backdrop of a growing sense of strategic independence among the members of the international community, the G7 will only end up isolating itself by succumbing to the US' hegemony and bullying. The G7 should stop containing and suppressing other countries, stop provoking camp confrontation, and return to the right path of dialogue and cooperation to avoid becoming an obstacle to world peace, stability and development.
