Top film goes on promotional tour
The upcoming suspense crime film, Lost in the Stars, which is currently at the top of China's presale box-office charts during the Dragon Boat Festival, started a promotional tour on Monday covering eight cities.
The movie has seen its combined revenue from advanced screenings and ticket bookings pass 21 million yuan ($2.9 million) as of June 20, or nearly half of the overall presale receipts generated by a total of nine new movies during the three-day holiday.
With Chen Sicheng as the executive producer, the movie stars actor Zhu Yilong as well as actresses Ni Ni and Janice Man.
Set in a Southeast Asian country, the mind-bending story follows the journey of a husband who realizes that his wife has gone missing during their overseas trip. To make matters worse, he wakes up one day to find a mysterious woman lying next to him, claiming to be his wife. In his desperation, he turns to a lawyer for help, but as the plot thickens, the situation becomes increasingly bizarre.
Interestingly, the movie features several of Van Gogh's most renowned paintings, including Starry Night, all of which contain metaphorical meanings that relate to the truth behind the mystery, said Cui Rui, the director of the film.
The movie will be released across the country on June 22.
