Over the years, China and Africa have fostered close collaboration, aiming to build a community with a shared future. However, in recent years, some Western countries have accused China of creating a "debt trap" in Africa.

Martin Kimani, Kenya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, refuted such claims in an interview with China Daily. Kimani said, "Some of the countries that accuse China of using a 'debt trap' are merely trying to find a way to minimize the partnership between China and different African countries. We do not like this. There's plenty of evidence that they're not accurate and that they are unfair on the relationship between China and different countries."
