An art performance themed on the artistic life of local people was staged at Beijing's Shunyi Grand Theater on Friday.

The festival provides a platform for the people to showcase stage works from different towns, streets, and local art groups in Shunyi.

The event began with a captivating performance of Chinese drums. According to its organizers, the lively beats of the drums resonated with the happiness of life in Shunyi, and that is the reason why the drums began in the first place.

The performance was divided into three parts. The first featured different Chinese musical instruments, while the second focused on acrobatics in which children performed martial arts. And the last part highlighted solo and dance from local art groups.

From traditional to contemporary, and from the classical to pop, the event showcased a diverse artistic life of Shunyi people that left audience awestruck.

A woman surnamed Wu was one of the audience. She said she was so proud that her daughter was performing martial arts on the stage. "It helps her not only hone her physical prowess but also carries forward the heritage of Chinese culture."

Wang, an audience member who attended the events also, said that this kind of performance uplifts him and captures the spirit of the times.
