Oksana Chusovitina went back on her words again and showed up in Hangzhou Asian Games, which she said would not prepare to compete after the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The 48-year-old gymnastics legend now is even aiming for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, according to the Uzbekistan Olympic Committee.

Chusovitina became the oldest female gymnast in Olympic history in 2021, breaking her own record for Olympic gymnastics appearances with eight. She is one shy of the Olympic appearances record for a woman in any sport, held by Georgian shooter Nino Salukvadze, who competed in Tokyo at age 52, according to Olympedia.org.

Chusovitina won her first world champion title in 1991 and Olympic champion in 1992. She then represented Uzbekistan for the next three Olympics before joining the German team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics because her son was receiving leukemia treatment in Germany. She then went back to represent Uzbekistan in the 2016 Olympics.

She has won two Olympic medals - team gold from Barcelona 1992 and vault silver from Beijing 2008 and nine world championships medals on vault before being inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2017.
