Artists from overseas and representatives from across China to showcase diversity

Rich and vibrant cultural exchange activities are taking place at the 2023 China International Import Expo. This year, cultural activities are being presented by artists from six countries — Spain, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia and Fiji — as well as by artists from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland, as well as Hong Kong and Macao.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. As a result, Spain is hosting a national pavilion at the cultural exhibition area of the 2023 CIIE.

Different forms of performances and demonstrations have been organized in the National Pedestrian Street Exhibition Area, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Area, the Hongqiao International Urban Reception Room Exhibition Area, the Chinese Time-honored Brands Exhibition Area and the China Tourism Exhibition Area to showcase the charm and beauty of China.

Nearly 100 cultural and artistic performances take place on the Grand Stage of the CIIE. Maori cultural performances will be showcased during the CIIE. Maori cultural performances, also known as the New Zealand Maori haka, refer to the traditional dance form of New Zealand's Maori people, featuring synchronized movements, rhythmic stomping, chanting and vocalizations.

Cultural exchange is one of the four functional platforms of the annual China International Import Expo, where goods and services are traded and culture and concepts are exchanged.

The cultural exchange exhibition area at the CIIE has become an important window for welcoming guests from various countries to participate in exhibitions, promoting economic, trade and cultural integration, and deepening exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. The display space for cultural exchange activities is expanding year-by-year, with more presentation methods and broader content.
