Stunning art exhibition at CIIE showcases ancient Silk Road heritage
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative. With the aim of better telling the story of China and promoting cultural exchanges, the Artwork Experts Committee of the China International Import Expo is taking advantage of its strengths to organize an exhibition that features exquisite artworks. These artworks showcase the inherent beauty and historical significance of ceramics, tea and embroidery, all of which were pivotal commodities traded along the historic Silk Road. Through this captivating showcase, the committee aims to illuminate the enduring cultural heritage that persists within these art forms.
Ceramics
In the ceramic section, the exhibition showcases masterpieces created by renowned ceramic masters Zhang Songmao, Zhou Guozhen and Bai Ming, who are all highly respected in the field of Chinese ceramics internationally. The demonstration also features exquisite ceramics produced by five famous kilns — Ruyao, Guanyao, Geyao, Dingyao and Junyao — during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Tea
Visitors to the tea section will be immersed in a captivating blend of global tea traditions. This area showcases the works of renowned purple clay master Gu Jingzhou and pieces created by Gu Shaopei, one of the leading figures in the contemporary purple clay field. There is also a display of platinum crystal series tea furniture.
Embroidery
The section focuses on showcasing artistic treasures of Chinese embroidery. Four famous embroideries are being featured, namely Su embroidery from Suzhou of Jiangsu province; Xiang embroidery from Hunan province; Yue embroidery from Guangdong province and Shu embroidery from Sichuan province. The exhibition features exquisite pieces created by esteemed artists, namely Master Yao Jianping in the art of Su embroidery, Master Kang Huifang in the mesmerizing craft of Yue embroidery, Master Hao Shuping in the delicate technique of Shu embroidery and Master Li Yan in the artistry of Xiang embroidery.
