New immersive exhibition held at Panlong Tiandi in Shanghai
Shadow Wall, the second piece, explores the traditional forms of Buddhism statues in Asia. Inspired by the writing and life story of legendary monk Hui Yuan (334-416), artists have replicated his sensory experience of meditating in a cave on Mount Lushan.
The exhibition culminates with the third piece Embodied Architecture, which shows the interior, structure and scriptures found in the Pagoda of Fogong Temple in Yingxian county of Shanxi province, the tallest and oldest surviving pure wood-framed pavilion-style structure dating back to the 10th century.
Using digital technologies such as photogrammetry, digital modeling, and CG animation, the artwork takes viewers on a virtual tour of the pagoda during which they can experience the spiritual journey.
