Fati out for 'long time' as injury jinx strikes again
LONDON -- Spain international Ansu Fati's terrible luck with injuries has struck again with Brighton & Hove Albion coach Roberto De Zerbi confirming that the forward could be out of action for a "long time" with a hamstring injury.
The 21-year-old, who has played 10 times for Spain, joined Brighton on loan from FC Barcelona for the season to try and get his career back on track after three years ruined by injury, with four knee operations followed by several muscle injuries.
Fati had looked to be getting back to his best with four goals in 14 appearances for the Premier League club, but pulled up in the first half of Brighton's 3-2 win away to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Early rumors are that he could be sidelined for up to three months, and when asked about that injury and a problem for right-back Tariq Lamptey in his press conference ahead of Brighton's Europa League tie against AEK Athens, De Zerbi was unable to give good news.
"I think we have lost them for a long time," confirmed the coach.
