Vietnamese inspire others through blood donation in China
A Vietnamese man in Dalian, Liaoning province, has been generous with one of his most precious personal resources — his blood.
Doan Trung Thanh, 34, recently made his fifth blood donation in China. During the past four and a half years — as he has worked on his doctoral degree in tourism management at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics — Thanh has donated 1,200 ml of the life-giving substance.
"I hope it will help those in need," he said.
He came to China in 2019 for advanced studies after graduating from a university in Vietnam. He obtained a master's degree in Beijing before commencing his doctoral work in Dalian.
Thanh brought his kindness to China when he encountered a blood donation station in Beijing in November 2020.
"The staff were surprised to see me holding a foreign passport instead of the identification card of a Chinese citizen, thinking I didn't know what the station was about," Thanh recalled.
