Forum on international cultural industries held in Beijing

The 21st China Forum on International Cultural Industries kicked off in Beijing on Jan 6. The forum was hosted by Peking University, and was themed on developing a strong socialist culture and a modern Chinese civilization.

Fang Fang, vice-president of Peking University, pointed out that building a culturally strong nation and constructing the modern civilization of the Chinese nation are the historical mission and responsibility of higher-education workers and researchers in philosophy and social sciences.

Fu Hanxiao, deputy director of the industrial development department with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, emphasized that the construction of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation should establish and maintain cultural confidence, and promote excellent traditional Chinese culture in the process of inheritance, integrating it into modern life and production.

Additionally, the construction of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation should strengthen international cultural industry exchanges, Fu added.

Xiang Yong, head of the Institute for Cultural Industries, Peking University, said all parties need to continually unleash the vitality of cultural development through institutional innovation, demonstrate the power of cultural innovation, and showcase the character of the humanistic economy.

This involves promoting the digital transformation of cultural production, empowering cultural creativity for rural vitalization and urban renewal, achieving cross-disciplinary innovation and industrial integration in cultural creativity, Xiang added.
