Improving culture platforms will allow art forms to flourish
Cultural platforms should lead the inheritance and development of culture, allowing different art forms to interact and collide in the same venue, creating a city's "cultural living room" and a citizens' "spiritual sanctuary", said Wang Ning, dean of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, on Saturday in Beijing.
As a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), he stressed that cultural platforms should play their role in promoting the prosperity and development of socialist culture at the ongoing two sessions.
We should insist on a people-centered creative orientation to create more contemporary masterpieces that are grounded, empathetic, ambitious and emotionally resonant, said Wang.
He said that we should both bring more high-quality works such as traditional operas, ethnic dances and folk music to the world and at the same time establish a platform for displaying excellent Chinese culture, inviting friends from all countries to come to China.
Wang stressed the importance of creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, such as promoting "culture + museum", "culture + technology" and "culture + tourism" to achieve cross-border integration and development.
Wang emphasized prioritizing social benefits, advocating for the enrichment of cultural offerings available, holding cultural events that benefit the public and supporting arts education for young people.
"The prosperity and development of socialist culture requires cultural platforms and cultural workers to work hand in hand," he said.
