Air China operated its first round-trip flight from Beijing to New York on March 31 after China and the United States reached an agreement to increase the number of Chinese passenger flights. Chinese airlines now can operate 50 weekly flights, up from the previous 35. Both countries are making efforts to gradually restore air travel by increasing the frequency of direct passenger flights, which were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
