Hayao Miyazaki's animated fantasy continues to lead Chinese box office
The Boy and the Heron, an animated fantasy film directed by Japanese animation guru Hayao Miyazaki, continued to lead the daily box office chart of the Chinese mainland on Wednesday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed.
The Oscar-winning animated film raked in over 13.54 million yuan (about $1.91 million) on the day, which made it the top-grossing film in the Chinese box office for the eighth day running.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the latest installment in the MonsterVerse film franchise, ranked second with a daily box office revenue of 10.15 million yuan.
Domestic crime thriller Dwelling by the West Lake came in third, earning 3.52 million yuan of box office sales on Wednesday.
The Chinese mainland's box office revenue on the day totaled 39.10 million yuan.
