Renowned award celebrates forward-looking photography
Chen's series had been shortlisted with 19 other groups of work from nearly 700 submissions for the award, which presents a cash prize of 80,000 yuan ($110,71), according to its organizing committee.
The final selection took place on March 30 when Resilience, the 13th Three Shadows Photography Award Exhibition, featuring 20 groups of shortlisted works, kicked off.
An international jury consisting of Véronique Souben, head of the National School of Photography in Arles, France; Yumi Goto, independent curator and photo editor from Japan; Isabella Tam, curator of visual arts at the M+ Museum in Hong Kong; RongRong & inri, the photographer couple who co-founded the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre; and Dong Bingfeng, academic director of Changsha-based Xie Zilong Photography Museum convened at the exhibition to talk to the artists vis-a-vis before casting their votes.
