Officer's dedication to making communities better remembered
"Jiang was in a safe zone, but when he saw Chen Xing in danger, he and another officer went to the man without hesitation. He couldn't leave behind our colleagues who are in danger, and neither could we," said Zou Shangchao, one of Jiang's colleagues.
A native of Sichuan province, Jiang served for over 20 years on the police force. He had worked in various departments, including patrol, command centers, anti-drug brigades and grassroots police stations.
In September 1997, fueled by his admiration and aspirations to become a police officer, Jiang was admitted to the Liangshan Prefecture Police School in Sichuan. In December 2003, he was admitted to the Yuexi county public security bureau in Liangshan. During his 10-year tenure in Liangshan, he handled and resolved over 300 criminal cases and 500 administrative cases.
In 2013, he was transferred to the Qingshen county public security bureau in Meishan city of Sichuan, where he earned the trust and understanding of the community through his sincere dedication.
He first worked at a police station in the rural area of Qingshen county, where he actively chatted with the left-behind elderly, discussed farming with villagers, mediated disputes among farmers and helped local residents resolve their problems.
In March 2021, two farmers in a village in Qingshen county had a physical altercation over land boundaries, resulting in injuries to one of them who was hospitalized. Jiang learned the dispute had dragged on for about a decade.
Adhering to the principles of resolving conflicts and eliminating hidden dangers, Jiang and his colleagues conducted extensive investigations and evidence collection and engaged in multiple mediations. Eventually, a mutually acceptable solution was reached and both sides signed a mediation agreement, putting an end to the dispute.
Jiang was transferred from the rural to the urban area in 2021, becoming a community police officer. He remained dedicated and selfless, prioritizing the needs of the community. He was always ready to assist regardless of whether it was during work hours or not. He participated in over 20 anti-fraud publicity activities and prevented several local residents from losing as much as over 2 million yuan ($276,500) due to fraud.
Jiang received recognition for his outstanding performance, including being awarded a third-class merit citation and being commended four other times.
In August last year, Jiang was posthumously awarded the title of "First-Class Hero Model of the National Public Security System" by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Public Security.
