Theater for young, very young audiences to hit the stage in Beijing
As Children's Day approaches, the China National Theater for Children has announced that it will showcase 12 shortlisted works from the 2024 "Blooming and Sailing" program, an incubation initiative for theater and performing arts aimed at young audiences. The event will take place in Beijing from May 31 to June 10.
The 12 small-theater productions, which range from puppetry to musicals and from pantomime to Yueju Opera, were selected from a pool of 146 submissions. This program, supported by the Beijing Culture and Arts Fund, has been hosted by the theater for three years.
Additionally, the program will feature two theatrical works specifically developed for babies and toddlers. Go to the Farm is a family-friendly interactive play designed for audiences aged between 17 months and four years. Momoda': The Curious Caterpillar offers a multi-sensory theater experience for babies aged between six months and 18 months. The theater highlighted that these two works represent their new efforts in creating immersive theater experiences for very young audiences.
Moreover, eight theater workshops associated with the finalist works will be open to all theater enthusiasts.
