State Grid Jiangsu Power in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has introduced new energy storage equipment to ensure a stable power supply during the college entrance exams.

At Tongzhou Senior High School, a 2-meter-tall, 90-centimeter-wide energy storage cabinet has been placed near the school's power distribution room.

This cabinet, equipped with eight batteries, can store nearly 56 kilowatt-hours of electricity, providing emergency power during the exam period. This marks the first time in Nantong that such technology is being used to secure the power supply during exams.

The energy storage cabinet is designed to automatically activate its power supply in case of power outages caused by severe weather like thunderstorms, ensuring uninterrupted power for essential devices such as lighting and audio equipment in the exam rooms.

Guan Weixin, the logistics manager at the school, highlighted the advantages of this new system over traditional diesel generators, which are noisy and can disrupt exam environments.

In addition to the energy storage cabinets, some exam venues are also equipped with energy storage vehicles. State Grid Jiangsu Power has implemented advanced technologies like the "active repair system" and unmanned automatic inspection across the province to enhance the reliability of the power supply.
