China and Venezuela commemorate 50 years of relations through harmonious concerts
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of China-Venezuela diplomatic relations, a concert unfolded at the Beijing Concert Hall on June 17, featuring the talented musicians of the China National Symphony Orchestra and the Venezuela Juan Jose Landaeta Symphony Orchestra.
Under the batons of Jing Huan from China and Christian Vasquez from Venezuela, an array of musical compositions filled the hall, including renowned pieces like the Spring Festival Overture by Chinese composer Li Huanzhi, Dance of the Golden Snake by Nie Er and adapted by Tang Jianping, Margaritena by Venezuelan composer Inocente Carreno, and Santa Cruz de Pacairigua by Venezuelan composer Evencio Castellanos.
Continuing the cultural exchange, on June 18, the Venezuela Juan Jose Landaeta Symphony Orchestra enchanted audiences with more works by Venezuelan composers at the Beijing Concert Hall.
Named after the esteemed Venezuelan composer Juan Jose Landaeta (1780-1812), this youthful symphony orchestra, comprised of musicians aged 15 to 25, made its grand debut in January 2018.
In a further display of bilateral ties, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro visited China in September 2023, emphasizing the need for increased collaboration in areas such as culture and education.
Looking ahead, this September will see the China National Symphony Orchestra embarking on a tour of Venezuela, further strengthening the musical bonds between the two nations.
