Graham Allison, founding dean of the Harvard Kennedy School who popularized the term "the Thucydides Trap", said the US should learn from Chinese history to seek cooperation with China. He noted that Song and Liao achieved cooperation in competition through negotiating a treaty. China and the US should also find a way to make each other better despite the risks of fierce rivalry.
