Qingdao airport sets record for passenger traffic in August

August saw remarkable growth in Qingdao's aviation market, with the Qingdao airport reaching a new milestone. On Aug 9, Qingdao airport recorded its highest single-day passenger count ever, with 98,000 travelers. Since the Qingdao International Beer Festival began in late July, the airport has averaged 624 flights and 92,500 passengers per day.
As a key transportation hub, Qingdao airport has expanded its flight network to better accommodate travelers. This year, the airport introduced 11 new destinations and increased the frequency of existing routes to cities like Chengdu, Kunming, and Tokyo. By the end of July, passenger traffic had surged to 15.06 million, a 27.8 percent year-on-year increase.
In addition, Qingdao airport made significant strides in enhancing its transfer services. In 2024, the airport expanded its domestic transfer options, adding cross-airline check-in services at eight new airports, bringing the total to 22. From January to July, the airport facilitated over 1.5 million transfer passengers, an increase of 105.5 percent year-on-year.
